Vintage bicycles:
for promenade and for race, in wood and in metal.
This little Bicycle
Museum is born from Tino Sana's own passion for cycling
and from his own friendship with Felice Gimondi.
Today bicycles are in fact mainly made of light metals, or,
for racing purposes, with use of carbon fiber and composite
materials. Here are displayed T-shirts and bicycles used by
Felice Gimondi to win the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France
and the World Championships, together with several trophies.
Here rare vintage model are shown, all made in wood, which was
the first material used for construction of wheels and frames,
then replaced by metal.
The Museum displays as well some
vintage metal bicycles.
In the handicrafty section (emporium
mirabile) of this site the Tino Sana's wood bikes are shown,
a true finesse for amateurs and connoisseurs (see image at bottom right).
The absolute originality in design and in construction technology
of these both modern and ancient creations deserved their exhibition
in the Bicycle Museum of America, Chicago.
